Tenerife the island of eternal spring

Tenerife is located just of the African coast resulting in the average tempretures off 18 to 25 centigrade all year round.and average sunshine of 7to 10 hrs in summer and 5 to 7 hrs in winter It covers an area of 2,036 sq km and is the largest of the seven canary island this makes it an ideal winter as well as summer destination.   The island its self is diverse from the wetter more greener north to dryer south and the luner landscape of the Mount Teide(3718mtrs) national park The cliffs of Los Gigantes.   In days gone by fishing banana and tomatoes were the main income source for the islanders nowadays mass tourism has taken over as the biggest earner.   It is now easier than ever to travel to the island of Tenerife with dailly flights from numerous uk airports. 

The resorts

The main resorts in the south are Playa Las Amaricas  Los Cristianos and the smaller ones such as Los gigantes in the north Puerto de la Cruz..  Los Cristianos has a more sedate relaxed pace than its neigbour Las Americas with it discos and Veronicas. Never the less dont be put off by this the area off Las Americas next to Los Cristianos has some of the best hotels and apartments on the island. Los Cristianos has still some of it origins to be seen the church the harbour and fishing fleet which contribute to the different  cosmopolitan feel you get when walking in Los Cristianos. Los Gigantes smaller and quieter has the back drop of the the huge spectacular cliffs. Other resorts which are an exstention of Las Americas are Toriviscas,Porto Colon and Playa Fanabe and Costa Adeje all with bars shops and resteraunts.

Beaches

Los Cristianos has two yellow golden sand beaches the main beach  in the center and Las Vistas both with toilets,parasols and sun beds ,bars and cafes shops  while Las Americas beaches are mix of golden fine grain sand to dark sand again with promanade, parasols, loungers a selection of bars and restaurants. You can enjoy water sports such as paragliding ,water sking ,surfing also scuba diving and fishing or just sun bath on the great blue  flag beaches  Adeje     Bahi Duque   grey fine sand beach with parking area coffee shop showers toilets promenade and sun beds. The towns and villages

There are many great towns and villages in Tenerife.The capital of the islands Santa Cruz a mecca for shoppers a bustling city with its vast harbour where you will see cruise liners and cargo ships .  Masca in the south known as the hidden village accessed by a steep winding road. The old capital of La laguna and its many religous monuments and fine buildings throughout the city.Vilaflor   An old canarian village the highest in Spain at 4921ft with its unique architecture the parish church and the Palace of the Lords being a good example off it.     Taganana   a remote village famous for its fresh fish meats and rose wine and cheeses a great place for walkers.   La Oratva  The town is filled with buildings of great historical interest the centre decalared a monument of national interest. Fine building such as the Casa Los Balcones the Conceptcion Parish Church there is also a Botanical Garden La Hijuela del Botanico.  Why not take a trip out of the resorts and visit them.
